Kuname River Lodge is a small, unashamedly exclusive, luxury safari lodge set in 9,000 hectares of pristine African bush, situated in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve. Kuname River Lodge are only 45 minutes drive from the world-famous Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Bordered by the towering Drakensberg escarpment on the west and set in game-rich, lush, riverine vegetation, this spectacular destination offers a variety of breathtaking views, diverse landscapes and some of the best big five game-viewing opportunities in southern Africa.

ACCOMMODATION at Kuname River Lodge

Accommodation at the lodge is in five private, comfortable chalets, nestled in dense bush overlooking the majestic Drakensberg escarpment. The air-conditioned chalets are decorated in an elegant African style, with each item of artwork having its own story. The chalets offer en-suite bathrooms including an outdoor shower as well as luxurious outdoor bath. The magnificent views from the quaint private wooden decks on each of the chalets simply take your breath away.

Enjoy a cocktail or freshly brewed cup of coffee in our sophisticated guest area. Relax in the shade on our magnificent wooden deck amongst the surrounding riparian bush. A bush walk with the Kuname River Lodges` experienced ranger is a chance to literally step into a world few ever get the opportunity to experience. It is a nature expedition. Participants get to see animals on their own level, in their unique environment. They learn how everything in a delicate ecosystem has to be in perfect balance if it is to survive and flourish.

On a Karongwe Reserve bush walk, the emphasis is on the little creatures and tiny things that play vital roles in the functioning of this unique environment. Participants learn about medicinal plants, the region`s lesser-known fauna and flora and veld-skills that have been passed from generation to generation by the region`s indigenous people.

To really feel the bush one needs to sit quietly and listen and feel Africa`s rhythms. Slowly the ancient edifice of wondrous architecture - the landscape, will educate your spirit, reminding you of the fragile intricacies of the bush and our special role and responsibility to protect sacred land.
