Drivers
The minimum age for drivers and authorised co-drivers is 21 years. In the event of the driver being between 18-20 years, a young driver surcharge will apply to your bookings made. Co-drivers incur an additional charge.

Drivers license -The driver or any authorized co-driver must produce a valid unendorsed drivers license at time of rental. The individuals driver’s license is required to be in the English language. If not, an International drivers license will be required in order to claim the rental option stipulated.

The 24-hour call center has access to a national network of motor vehicle service operators for mechanical breakdown or vehicle accidents which may occur during your safari package rental choice.

General Facts & Conditions
Vehicle Rental Fleet
As Budget Car Rental’s fleet is constantly being updated to meet the changing needs of our customers, vehicle groups, and not vehicle models may be confirmed at time of reservation or booking.
FUEL
Fuel may not be purchased with a credit card but with cash in the currency specific to your region of travel at petrol or gas stations. Each Budget vehicle is rented with a full tank and the renter will pay for refueling when returned either through their own time or payment for this upon returning the vehicle rented. Each vehicle is refueled by Budget on termination of the vehicle at the standard government legislation fuel tariff regardless whether the fuel gage indicates that the vehicles is full, as vehicles that are refueled at independent stations are not guaranteed to be filled to capacity
RENTAL PERIOD AND EXTENSIONS OF RENTAL
The daily rates are calculated strictly on 24-hour cycles.
EXTENTIONS
Should the renter choose to extend his/her rental beyond the original return date the company must be informed thereof. Failure to inform Budget may result in Budget reporting the vehicle as stolen and all waiver cover is negated. Should the renter extend his/her rental, and an extension voucher is not produced from the operator then Budget will bill the renter for additional days at the extension rates.
CHARGES NOT INCLUDED IN THE RATES OR VOUCHER VALUE
There are additional services that are not included in the voucher value. The renter needs to produce a credit card to cover the additional services which are purchased.
Deposits are Taken At The Start or commencement Of The Rental period. The following authorisation fee will be held on the client’s credit card:

WAIVER INFORMATION
Standard Cover
Rates include theft and collision damage waivers. When purchased an excess applies in the event of an accident or theft case.
Super Cover
Rates include super theft and super collision damage waivers and there is no excess applicable in the event of an accident or theft case as long as there is no breach of the rental conditions.
Water, Sand And Undercarriage Damage
Water, sand and undercarriage damage is not covered by any of our waivers. In the event of water, sand or undercarriage damage being disputed, an assessors report will be obtained by Budget Rent A Car and billed on top of the damages to the clients credit card

Tyre & Windscreen Insurance
Additional tyre & windscreen insurance is available. If declined and the tyres are damaged, the customer will be liable for the cost of a new tyre or tyres depnding on the case related. The customer is to contact Budget who will arrange to replace the tyre or tyres depending. No repaired tyres will be accepted by Budget. Please note the waiver covers the tyres only and not the rims relevant.

Any Excess Waivers Will Be Considered Null And Void If:
- Negligent, malicious or criminal actions of renter or passenger as detailed in the rental agreement
- when the vehicle is not driven by the renter or co renter as stated on rental agreement
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substance
- Tampering with odometer
- Failure to report an accident to Budget personnel within 24 hours
- crossing the border without acquiring a letter of authorization from Budget
- Breach of the conditions of the rental agreement
Information Related To Towing A Budget Vehicle
In the event of an accident, the towing charges are for the renters account. However, should the vehicle require towing due to a mechanical breakdown, towing costs would be incurred by Budget rent a car
Towing: Please note the renter is to speak to Budget personnel as only approved and appointed contractors may tow the vehicle within the Budget Fleet
Accident And Emergency Procedures
- Assistance numbers are noted on the license disk on the inside of the windscreen, on the key ring and on the inside of the driver’s window.
- Accident must be reported to the nearest Budget office within 24 hours.
- Information packs within the vehicle rented contains an accident form, which must be completed and handed in to Budget.
- The renter needs to take note of the details of any other parties involved such as Identity Number or Passport and Registration details
- The accident must be reported to the nearest police station within 24 hours

One Way Rental Charges - SOUTH AFRICA
General
A one-way fee of R365 is charged when the distance between the pick up Budget location and the drop off Budget location is further than 150 Kilometers.
The following route charges are:
- From Port Elizabeth including the Garden Route to any location in the Western Cape R550
- From any location in the Johannesburg area and dropping off at any location in the Western Cape R550
- From any location in the Johannesburg area and dropping off at any location in Kwa-Zulu Natal R550
- From any location in the Johannesburg area and dropping off at any location in Mpumalanga R550
- On any one-way rentals that originate in Durban and the vehicle is dropped off in Richards Bay or originate in Richards Bay and is dropped off in Durban, the one-way fee is R220.
One Way Rental Charges - NAMIBIA
General
If the vehicle is rented from a Budget location that is less than 500 kilometers from the Budget location where the vehicle is returned to a charge of N$660 applies Where the distance is over 500 kilometers N$1400 will be charged.

- Windhoek/Swakopmund / Walvisbay to Luderitz vice versa N$1100
- Oshakati to Windhoek / Swakopmund / Walvisbay N$660
- Ondangwa to Windhoek / Swakopmund / Walvisbay N$660
Cross Border Rentals
- All cross border rentals into neighbouring countries require a letter of authorization when taking delivery of the vehicle.
- Advise reservations of cross border intent so documentation can be prepared prior to pick up
- Please refer to reservations department for any charges
- All bookings to be made 3 days prior to pick up.
- Failure to inform Budget of cross borders will result in Insurance cover being negated.
- Vehicles may not be taken into Angola/Malawi/Zambia/Mozambique.
- Budget Reserves the right to decline permission of cross border rentals.
- all fees payable at the border are for the renters expense and payable directly to the border post.
- There is a R1000 cross border fee if vehicles are taken from South Africa in neighbouring countries
- There is a N$1000 cross border fee is vehicles are taken from Namibia to Botswana only
There is no charge for vehicles that are taken FROM South Africa into Swaziland and Lesotho and returned to South Africa.
One Way Drop Off Cross Border Charges
When vehicle is rented at a Budget location in South Africa and dropped off in neighbouring countries the following charges apply:
- South Africa - Namibia R3300
- South Africa - Botswana - Gaborone R1100
- Kasane , Maun R3500
- Francistown R3300
- South Africa - Lesotho R1100
- South Africa - Swaziland R1100
Once a vehicle is rented from a Budget location in Namibia and dropped off at a Budget location in neighbouring countries the following charges apply:
- Namibia to South Africa: N$3300
- Namibia to Botswana: Gaborone N$2200
- Maun, Francistown and Kasane N$3500
- Namibia to Swaziland, Lesotho N$4950

Trailers
Trailers can be rented in South Africa at a daily cost of R150 and must be returned to the Budget location where the trailer were rented from.
Jerry Cans – NAMIBIA Only
Jerry cans can be reserved at a daily rate of N$30.00 per can. Maximum of 3 per vehicle. A refundable deposit of N$110.00 per will be taken upon such requirements stipulated.
2nd Spare tyre – NAMIBIA only
Please note that second spares can be requested at time of reservation and are subject to availability. They are billed at N$35.00 per day

Handling Fee for traffic fines
In the event of traffic fines, the renter will be held responsible for the administration costs and fines received.

GPS units available CPT, DURBAN, PORT ELIZABETH AND JOHANNESBURG AIRPORTS
Charges R59 per day.
Mobile Cellular Phones - SOUTH AFRICA ONLY
Available throughout South Africa offering huge savings on roaming costs. Customer is liable for a daily insurance charge o f R9.95 per day and call charges at published rates.

Available from Windhoek airport by prior arrangement at a daily charge and call costs.
